by the way, 4 retainers are needed per shift - two for HisRM and two for HerRM.

Supporting the War Effort for the Midrealm is always a enjoyable duty for many of us at Pennsic War. As in the past, we will need volunteers for the Midrealm Royal Gate Guards, POD and Retainers. If you and your family, barony, shire, canton, company, household, group etc would liek to help out in a very easy yet fun way, please consider helping the Royal Midrealm Gate Guards, POD (Peer on Duty) and/or Retaining for TRMs.
Once you have determined the time slot you would like please check the appropiate box(es). List the name of the group (Barony of *** or Shire of *** or Fred & Halley (where u are camping), Fencing Guild of Eden etc). There will be a list at the Front Gate also. Report to the POD (Peer on Duty) or Mistress Radegund and/or Master Rocco. If they are unavailable seek out the other gate guards on duty or one of TRM's champions for instructions. The time slots will give us a rough idea of who is helping and how many. There will also be a sign up sheet at the Gate for the Midrealm. (see the POD that day).
You may, if you have a large group such as a barony or large household, take 1-2-3-4 hour shifts. I would advise you have everyone volunteering to understand to be there on time, bring water (incase) and dress in your best persona clothing (clean, non-offensive to gentles etc). Dress armor such as chainmail, scale, full plate is encouraged as are rapier fighters in their kits.
If you belong to an established SCA group, bring tabbards or surcoats to represent that group (Like Barony of Roaring Wastes, or House Leonthas or whatever.).
Encourage non-fighters to participate and also walking wounded (injured ftrs) that want to help the War Effort but are unable to fight.
POD & Guards: Minimum time is 1 hour.
Gate Guards: 2 guards per shift (hour)
POD: 1 peer minimum with a squire, apprentice or protoge or student.
Retainer(s): Bring A Smile
We appreciate any assistance you can offer in this effort. Expect to see the movers and shakers fo the Realm and Society while on Guard Duty. It is on par with 'People-Watching' at the food court.
