Something I wrote on my livejournal about this I though I'd share here
To one of the most open hearted people i've ever known:
You cared about everyone, and everythiing
You were our friend, our drinking partner, the person so many would turn to,
You always smiled and laughed,
Your hugs will be missed always,
But so will the way you remembered people and events,
Made people feel special and important,
as I honestly believe you felt they were,
How you believed in chivalry and courtesy,
everything that was good in us,
and in the SCA,
and how you brought that out, not only in yourself,
but in others
by being so cheerful, and considerate and caring.
So many will miss you,
Everyone in their own way,
To Sarnac, a brother, a friend
Long will you live in our hearts

http://www.tworavens.org/gallery/v/hostedphotos/Tsivia/ SHOULD have the picture of Khan Sarnac and the Wooly Mammoth by tomorrow...
Direct from one of the two Mammoth-creators himself: The story of Khan Sarnac and the Wooly Mammoth!! I'm glad to be able to help share this wonderful bit of Ealdormere legend with all in such dark times.

Jo
Greetings, to my fair madens and brothern of legio Draconis. My heartfelt condolences to Jo, Amber and his extended family in SCA for the loss of this brave fellow. I've have had the pleasure of working with Sarnac for the past three years and have been stricken, nay smitten by his character, charm chivalry, majesty and honor. Having never had the pleasure to be bested by Sarnac in battle; my time was spent with him in talks about his beloved family, daughter Amber (Zahra) and Wife Carolyn (Jolicia).
We talked about our faith, we talked about his new garage. We talked about work, our careers and passing that DAMM Checkpoint Exam. He will be missed. bob has gotten under my skin and I just can't shake the thought of him not comming back to work. His humor, his smile and jovial personality will be missed.
I've been reading these posts and could no longer contain my feelings, besides as jo said typing is easier than talking about it right now. The process of greiving his loss has been a struggle... today at work I got little accomplished other than trying to hold back the tears, then crying (sobbing like a baby) and reading more of these touching tributes to HRM Sarnac Kir. Sarnac, would probably say something like "Pull yourself together man, you got to perservere."
I thought it only far to share a couple photos I have found of Bob Holley, my co-worker and friend with all of you who know him so fondly.
Anyone who can help me with instructions on posting photos here, please email. I will alos bring copies to the funeral, Friday.
ILS,
Excalibur (Bob Meyering)

He told her when she turned 19 that he put a special ring tone on his phone, so when she went to Canada & was out drinking he would know it was her calling asking for a ride. It was REM's 'End of the World' ... LOL ....

When I found out about the loss of Sarnac, I will admit that I did not know what to think/act/do. I'm sure at least a few feel/felt that way.
I am/was not terribly close with he or his family. I spent a day with Joleicia once 2-3 years ago discussing sewing, applique and other fun stuff.
Sarnac did the cool thing of letting us do our thing and went off to be "out of the way".
Other than that day, I remember a night at a murder melee (in the swamp) where Roak was holding a hafla... and a certain Count decided that it might be amusing to try belly dancing (of course with much encouragement from the crowd).
I think that is how I will remember him. Smiling, dancing, and being an alright kind of guy.
Joleicia, know that he will be missed and that if you require anything that is in our capacity to provide please let us know.
With deepest sympathy,
Lady Katerine Morgane de Montrevel

I last actually talked to him at a sunday practice shortly before that pennsic, three or so years ago.
I remember because while we were talking between column charges thru the trees, someone who just showed asked him why Ealdormere was wasn't fighting with the Mid that year. He replied something along the lines of I have to do what is best for my people. While the conversion itself has faded into the mists of time, his response to that jibe has always stuck with me. Until that I guess I hadn't really thought of ealdormere as being outta kingdom. Still kinda don't.
My condolences to his family and his people.

I remember that night well. Sarnac truly enjoyed himself at Scotch Night and enjoyed the variety of always high quality scotches that are offered.
May he and Gundric always have the finest scotch at the big bar up in the sky.......

Longtime lurker on this site--but it's sad that it took this to get me to register and post...
I'm not a fighter (although I keep threatening to do it one day), but I have been serving as Pentland Herald for the last couple of years and overseeing Crown Tourney list heraldry. I was heralding Crown a few weeks ago when Sarnac withdrew suddenly because of injury. Up until then, he had been advancing steadily through the lists, and looked like a decent bet to go all the way. I was bummed, since I always liked watching Sarnac fight--he reminded me of a bulldog on pointe shoes from time to time, solid yet somehow graceful. I also always liked his sense of humour (and choice of heraldic colours), and looked forward to having him as King again someday, since I wasn't living in Ealdormere the first time around. I figured, oh well, it wasn't meant to be, maybe next time.
I can't believe I saw him fight for the last time that day. I will miss seeing him on the field, or goofing around in the back row of court (a vice I'm afraid I sometimes shared with him), almost always with that big smile on his face.
Last night, Eoforwic observed a moment of silence in Sarnac's honour.
And what Moria said about friends--this has once again reminded me that there's no such thing as telling your friends too often what they mean to you. There's a lot of people like Sarnac in the SCA who I've never told just how much they inspire me. I think it's time to get crackin' on that.

| I just remembered this. I heard him SING once, at the Seige of Talonvale, Saturday night.
It was awsome. I've been looking forward to hearing him sing again. Now only in my memory. |
|
The last song he ever sang was a private song seranade to the kitchen staff in Sarnia at Coronation - it was the "bring me bread and butter...and cheese" that will ever by one of my top favorites. _________________ On the Field is where your true character is revealed / Never Forget: http://members.cox.net/classicweb/email.htm | | |

my condolences go out to the family. I met him only a few times, but he was always generous and very helpful. May God be with you in your sorrow of his loss.

I only had the honor of meeting his excellency one time, but in that short time he made quite an impression on me, both with the business end of his sword and most especially with his personality and willingness to teach. During a tournament of chivalry he taught me many things about fighting, chivalry, and most importantly about being a very exceptional and knowledgeable knight. I will sorely miss him and know that the world is a lesser place without him.

How many remember that BBQ in Brannos' backyard and Sarnac dancing around with those glowing cups someone was giving out. He was making all these weird techno noises, dancing around and waving those cups. LOL
