Task: Recognize and Treat a heat casualty.
Conditions: Given a person exhibiting the signs and symptoms of the three different kinds of heat injury, and access to water and transportation for further medical treatment if needed.
Standards: Recognize the signs and symptoms of the three types of heat injuries and demonstrate/explain the treatment steps necessary to preclude permanent bodily harm to the casualty.
Training Objective: To thoroughly train all personnel in the recognition and treatment of heat injuries.

My name is Lady Helena Sibylla, and I am the A&S Point Coordinator for Pennsic University this year. As the date of the war approaches, I write in search of your assistance to call up volunteers to help staff A&S Point and provide service to the attendees.
A&S Point shifts are short - only 2 hours for desk staff - beginning on Wednesday, Aug. 4 and ending on Friday, Aug. 13. Shift supervisors are also needed for 4 hour shifts. Individuals may also volunteer directly at A&S Point once Pennsic begins. A&S Point will be open on Aug. 1-3 from 1-4p.m. for instructor check-in, and volunteers can come for signup as well.

Just thought you might like to know that there is an acutual Duct Tape Festival! Can you believe it? And its the 7th annual one.
"This three-day event celebrates duct tape, its enthusiasts and its wacky and fun uses. The festival also honors the history and heritage of the city that is proclaimed the “Duct Tape Capital” of the world—Avon, Ohio—the home of Duck brand duct tape.

Kingdom Media Relations Officer: Should have reliable internet access, be comfortable being interviewed by and speaking with the media, writing press releases, and communicating with event staff and Royalty. Some travel is to be expected. A working knowledge of the SCA is lso required.

The upcoming 2010 St. Patrick's Parade will be held on Sunday, March 14, 2010. This will be Detroit's 52nd parade!
In 1959, the United Irish Societies, sponsored the first St. Patrick's Parade in Dearborn, MI. The Parade route follows along Michigan Avenue through the area known as Corktown. Corktown received it's name as the Irish were the largest ethnic group of newcomers to Detroit, most of them from County Cork. The Corktown neighborhood is Detroit's oldest surviving neighborhood.

Everyone who is interested in the Middle ages should listen to this! Everyone who is interested in the modern world should listen to this too.
An excellent history lesson on an important Medieval technology, and a lovely demonstration that "progress" in terms of history does not necessarily mean advancement.
